Slow Success
This week Supabase held their first ever select conference in San Francisco. It was stuffed with incredible speakers and developers. The whole event is up on youtube so you can watch through if you didn't attend. It's incredible to see how far Supabase has come since I first built a site with it back in 2021. That site is still automatically getting weekly updates by the way.
One standout talk for me was with Monzo bank founder Tom Blomfield who is now a YC investor. He mentions in that he much prefers the lifestyle of an investor over the huge stresses he experienced being the public face at Monzo, where a phone call in the dead of night might be anything from a technical problem or an issue with the press. He says for every second Monzo was down, there would be thousands of angry customers unable to conduct transactions.
It makes me realise that however enviable the success of these founders might be I really would not be equipped to deal with the lows they go through. Give me gradual wins and a sustainable pace without the stress. Slow success over a long time period sounds just fine to me.
As always, hope you enjoy todays links!
